Interesting Problem

I just recently bought a 1989 Bronco with the 5.8 liter V-8. I was changing the oil and afterward I started it up to watch the hose on the fill tube blowing oil on the ground. I went to advanced and they gave me a PCV valve. I am wondering is anyone can tell me how or where that hose that comes off of the oil fill tube is supposed to go. I have been told that it goes to the air filter box to its own filter but I am not sure. Am I going to have to rebuild the engine or is everything ok?

Yes, it runs across to the air box to a breather filter in the bottom of the box. If it is dumping oil into the breather below the air filter either the PCV valve is completely blocked or the engine is losing oil control around the rings and valve seals so badly that an overhaul is in order.

Sorry to have to give you such disheartening news in response to your first post. Here's hoping the PCV valve is all that's wrong. Welcome to FTE and the Big Bronco Forum.
