6.9 into OBS Ford
I've been signed up here for awhile, just haven't spent a whole lot of time on the site yet. But I got a question for ya'll.
I have a good running 6.9L in an 85 F-250 that has a bunch of nickel and dime stuff that needs fixed along with rust and paint work needs. I had the idea of picking up a 92-97 F250 or F350 ext cab or crew cab with a blown motor and swapping mine in. Now, my current truck has the t-19 4 speed and is 4x4. I know that starting off with a diesel truck is going to be best, but I don't imagine converting a gasser with take much more effort. Other than swapping in a diesel gauge cluster and 7.3 idi motor mounts, I can't really think of much else. I have main 2 setups that I'll be looking for: a truck that was originally a 7.3 idi/ZF5 or a 460/ZF5, both 4x4. I would like any input of any sort that will be of help in this swap. Thanks in advance.
Just a note, I know that the gasser tranny will not just bolt up to my motor, but I can just drill and tap new holes in the correct locations on the bellhousing.
