This started a little while ago and I have just been dealing with it.
This morning wife decided she needed the truck.
Every once in awhile the engine will crank fine but not fire. When it does this I can hear a faint chatter like a relay chatter under the center of the dash. If I turn the key off and then back on normally this resets something and when I turn the key again truck fires right up.
So this morning Wife just kept cranking the motor over without it firing and being the Stuborn thing she is flooded it and killed the batteries.
Looking for a trade in, and also want to fix my truck cuz I'm keeping it.
I have that problem every once in a while. Im not for sure what the problem is but i think it might have something to do with batteries being low or not a good connection on one of the batteries. I replaced the ends of my battery cables and it seemes to help as i havent had the problem anymore!!
Cool.
Looks like time for new batteries. Which optima do I get?
O'Rielly's says I need a 65 series. But they don't show it available in that style. but how many cranking amps. and yes I have dual batteries.
Get something with at the very minimum, 850 cold cranking amps. Preferably 1000. These trucks pull alot and it is wise to pay the extra $$ for decent batteries.
Well that fixed it. installed the two Optima Red top 800 CCA batteries and all is right with the world again. Thanks to all the Internet peeps that keep these trucks running.
