I ordered mine without the clearance lights or the sunroof. I have had problems with leakage in the past with both items and I did not want any posiible route for water infiltration in this expensive truck. I live in a coastal rain forest climate and winters here are brutally wet, so no lights or sunroofs for me. SD's do look better with the lights but not a risk I'm willing to take.

 

I will hopefuly get to put them in tomorrow. work has been crazy.

I'm on my 3rd SD and all have had clearance lights ... when I bought the 2011 out of stock, I told the dealer don't call me for any truck without them, and maybe I'm old school, but I like the Ford setup much better than GM's, but the led changeout sounds interesting ......... go for the clearance lights, it really crowns the truck off.

 

Has anyone attempted to add these to a truck without them?

Drilling holes and running wires makes me pretty nervous.

 

Bought my 2011 Lariat off the lot and they were not factory installed. I have heard that the wiring may be there already but not sure. Was thinking about calling the dealer and asking if they install them. I had a 04 F250 and had them installed by a aftermarket accessory shop. Bought them from gorecon.com. They sell the LED type that look nice. My 2011 has a sun roof and the satellite antenna there, but guess they can squeeze the light in. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>

 

Be sure to post if you follow through with having them installed. My guess is that they are going to cost a lot more than the $55 they charge from the factory.

 

Originally, I really wanted the lights when I was considering other colors. However, when I went with the White Platinum Metallic Tri-Coat and the Chrome package I ended up being glad the truck didn't have them. Everything is body color and chrome with some black here and there. All I want is a bit more chrome or stainless steel. I still haven't desided on billet grill or brush gaurd.

 

My wife bought the lights for me - they were aprox $28.00 a piece x 5 with out install. I have not installed them yet as I am still considering the GMC LED's

 

They make the truck look like a commercial vehicle to me.

I think they take away from the clean lines of the roof.

 

I dont have them but all ways wanted them if I was to get a new truck tomorow I would get them in a hurry no doubt!

2011 psd lariat drw with clearance lights

 

I didnt have them on my 03 and it looked odd to me, like it was naked. Needless to say I ordered this one with them and I could not be more happy. These are trucks and the roof clearence lights make them look the way they should.

As for the GM style, I'm not a fan at all. I dont like them being grouped in the middle but to each his own. I can say that my favorite one's are the Dodge's with the smoked lenses, very sharp looking!
