So far I have bare bones mods: air intake, 4" turbo back exhaust, Pillar guages and a DP Tuner. Every year about this time I get to spend a few bucks on the truck and want to start planning for next year.
Last year was leveling kit and new rims and tires. This year was new exhaust to replace the rusting one, my Dp Tuner and 55w BiXenon headlight.
What is the next logical step in this process? Turbo housing? Tranny mods? or what????
If you're getting turbo surge, I'd say a housing or new wheel should be your very next step. Of course if you have to wait a year with surge, a turbo rebuild is what you'll be needing.
If you have no surge issues, then a shift kit would be a good thing to get. What's your ballpark budget?
Like to keep it around a thousand. Turbo surge not an issue, I know when it's going to do it and try to avoid it. Should I do the wheel or housing or both?
you could use a dual gate turbo housing next. It would help with surge and give some extra power and come into boost sooner. The whole setup would be only be half of your budget, so tranny mods would be what I did for the rest of the money.
The housing is around $400. The tugger kit is a little over a hundred, so you can do both and still have almost half your budget left over. Getting an AE would be a nice addition to your toolbox. Otherwise consider some bellowed up pipes, or if you're looking for less labor intensive, FRX or HPX kits and maybe some new boots.
