Problem Removing Fuel Line

I cannot get this line disconnected from the fuel pump! The first line (the blue one) came off w/no problem with the tool...the grey line won't budge...the tool fits in it, but it just won't release. I noticed there are 2 sizes to the tool (see pic) is there a certain size for the grey line? Maybe a better tool to use? I'm up for any suggestions! Thanks,
Roger

Ill second last post. The springs get rusty also shoot some penetrating oil in it and blow out crud with compressed air. Patience is the key though.

Spray some WD-40 or PB Blaster into the fitting. Push the fuel line in and push your tool into the fitting then twist. Make sure the tool is inserted all the way into the fitting.
As stated...patience is the key.

I push the line towards the connector too. Is that side pressurized?

Also, if that tool doesn't do the trick, try the plastic ones. I had a line on my Bronco that was real finicky, and the plastic one did the trick.

Try TAPPING on the tool once its inserted with a pair of pliers or vice grips. A hammer is too bulky and awkward. I was having difficulty with my fuel lines and I have the exact same tool that you have. After a shot of PB Blaster and then tapping on the disconnect tool w/ a pair of pliers, it popped loose.

i second the notion of penetrating oil and compressed air. soak the hell out of it and let it sit for a few minutes then blow compressed air into it as good as you can. then spray alittle more in it then try the twisting motion as mentioned above.

I have better luck with the plastic disconnect tools on fuel lines. We have both the metal and the plastic ones and sometimes one will work better than the other.

Face the ancestral burial grounds, with an ear of corn in one hand & a handful of dirt,...........,wait that's for a rain dance.

Spray w/ penitent. Use a miniature flathead screwdriver & firmly but carefully press in all the way around the retainer. Douche again, then come back with the tool. The cheap plastic version seems to work the best for me too. Although the inner retainer are replaceable if you want to remove it w/ an o-ring pick and replace. But that extreme should not be necessary. Crap tends to compact behind the retainer. When you attempt to compress it's entirety at one time, it just compresses more & still give the retainer no place to go.. working around a small section at a time w/ the miniature screwdriver , will break the crap up & allow it to work free, & out from behind the retainer.
