quick question, installing EGT probe

hey guys,, found several set of instructions and doesnt seem too hard.. but just a quick question. I got the 21/64 bit,, got the 18-27 Tap. and i practiced on a scrap pc of metal of comparable thickness. It seems to me that it didnt finish up very tight. Like maybe the tap or hole needed to be a hair smaller. If i put a washer behind it , it got better, almost as if it was running out of threads. Did I get the wrong tap,, wrong size hole. Just wanting to make sure this is right,, no do overs here. thanks..

ALL NPT tapers......that is why as you thread it on, it gets tighter. MAKE sure you have the right NPT tap like I said before....they make a 1/8"x24 NPT and a 1/8"x27 NPT.

It will be fine....nothing else is needed buddy.

Also, don't tap too deeply or your probe may install too deeply. You want the tap to go barely beyond the inside wall of the manifold.
