What is this?

One wire from this goes to the fuse block. The other drops down below the truck, runs along the frame and then is cut and taped up. I'm clueless as to what it was for. Any thoughts??

I also got a good laugh out of this. Why buy the correct cap when you can use a cork!

And some pics of California Emissions Stuff.

The block in the first pic is a resistor block for the old style trailer brake controller. The old controllers actually used to be plumbed into the brake lines, and that resistor is adjustable to vary the braking force of the trailer.

Note the nipple on the air cleaner where the hose attaches. This is part of the factory installed PCV (smog valve) system.

In the hole on the right (passenger) side valve cover is a rubber grommet, the smog valve fits into the grommet, then another PCV hose routes from the valve to a nipple on the carb spacer plate.

PCV introduced in 1961, was mandatory on sold new in CA vehicles. Out of state vehicles (if not so equipped) had to have the system installed before they could be registered. By 1963, all US vehicles had it.

Notice the plugs in the head. These are C6AZ6052A - used to plug T/E (Thermactor Emission-smog pump) holes in the head.

Was your 1966 F100 sold new in CA after 12/31/1965? If so...

Someone removed the T/E manifolds...along with the smog pump, smog pump's air cleaner (I kid you not), anti-backfire valve, air by-pass valves, hoses, pulleys and other related smog pump crap.

If not sold new in CA, the heads are not original...they are from a CA vehicle, and since T/E was prolly (I'm not sure on this) not required in the state it was sold new in, someone used those plugs the block off the holes.

I know T/E was mandatory on 1966 (1966/67) CA vehicles (all Passenger Cars/Bronco's/Econolines and F100's) after 12/31/1965, dunno about other states.

There were no factory installed trailer brake controllers on any Ford truck until the 1980's.

My how things have changed. I guessed it was a resistor of some sort. This also explains the "T" at the master cylinder.

The trailer plug is not connected as it looks like the bumper was once removed. Explains why the wire is just cut and taped.

It's up for grabs if anyone needs one. Otherwise trash.

Still had the black California plates (w/ 68 stickers) behind the seat. My guess is it came from California. I bought it from the second owner who has had it 10 years and has never done anything with it. His parents wanted it out of their back yard and now it's in mine. lol. The alternator is dropped down low and you can still see wher it looks like a smog pump was above it. There is also a third usused pully. I'm sure it was all removed when it came North. Who would want all that crap on their truck up here when we have lots of fresh air to polute!

The first pic looks like the reverb unit out of an old Fender Twin tube amp. :^)
