For those who might still be following along and wondering how much money I can throw at a Volare. Rebuilt gear box because the the bushing is shot on the input shaft causing massive leak when engine is running $133. Pitman arm $44, which has a worn out ball socket because joint is on the arm instead of draglink. That should just about do it. 95% of the wear parts on my Volare are now brand new or rebuilt components. I have no clue how many miles were on my Volare but the lesson here is check out the components if you can. The cheapest salvage yard Volare clip may not be the best deal. Also, there are newer cars with virtually identical clips. A late 80s Park Avenue might possibly be found with less miles. Probably not, but it's worth a look.

And now a pre-emptive strike on Niolon before he chimes in with the MII rant. Silence from you at this time John would be a beautiful thing. As if that would ever happen

Hei Fenders
I had to buy a rebuilt gearbox for 300 dollars cause mine leaked too. In addition to a new pitman, Ive also renewed all the ball joints just to be sure. Thanks for Johns tatoo. I wear it with pride Erik

What year Volares suspensions are you guys using? Mine is coming out of an 87 New Yorker. Am I likely to have the same problems or is mine newer than yours?

It is all virtually identical but you have a better chance as you went about as new as you can. I would doubt you need everything like I did. You did good buying a 87 instead of an 77 IMO. This is off the top of my head but here are the choices. All these use the Volare style K-member frame.

F Body- Volare, Aspen, Roadrunner R/T 76-80

J Body- Cordoba, Mirada, Imperial 80-83

M Body- Lebaron, New Yorker, Fifth Ave, Town and Country, Diplomat, Gran Fury (Not Fury) 77-88 I believe.

It's all the same stuff. Look in the parts books and practially everything is identical. Ask the Dodge dealer for a 76 Volare part he says no listing. Ask again for an 87 Fifth Ave part and he hands you the exact part you need for your Volare. There are very minor differences in sway bar diameters between models. A 225 slant six weighs as much as a Mopar V-8 so all the torsion bars seem to be the same too. Or darn close anyway.

'fenders,

Thanks for the info. Can I assume it works the other way also? I notice in Kanter's catalog they list front end rebuild kits for 74-83 Chrysler. If they are basically the same, this same kit should fit my 87, right?

Kanters supplied me with a kit. Call them with your specific application and they'll fix you up. The answer to your question is basically yes. Everything they sent me fit fine except the stabilizer bar end links.
