4x4 troubles...
Experiencing a problem with my 4 wheel drive. I have a 91 ranger 4x4 2.9 5spd with manual hubs . I also put oversized tires and what not on the truck .The truck used to have one of the best performing 4wd's But recently when I put it in 4 wheel hi I get a clunky wheel hop out of the what seems to be front right wheel. Feels like its binding almost. (Possibly sticky differential?) Seems to happen in second gear and up. One thing that seems to fix it was disengaging the hubs like I would when taking it out of 4 wheel drive. If I drive it in reverse with the hubs unlocked in 2wd for a house length when i put it back in 4 hi with the hubs locked the wheel hop goes away. Also there's no problems in 4 wheel low . every time in the past i would properly disengage the 4wd every time i used it and never had a problem when going back into 4 wd.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
