So last night we replaced the heater core in my friend’s 97 F250. When we dropped the steering column one small ground wire that goes from one side of the steering column to the other got caught and pulled off. We did reground it where we thought it went… That being said the truck does not start, it does not even turn over… When you turn the key on the ignition it does EVERYTHING but turn over. I think I can hear a relay click over when you try start it but I am not 100%. What could we have done?? Please help as I am not a Ford truck guy and I need to get this fixed! Thank you, Mark
Not sure if this helps but when you click to start it the E-brake light comes on until you release from the start position... I am not sure this is normal...
Here is a picture of the underside of the steering column with a connector that we didnt have a plug for (we assumed it was an option as I wasnt there for tear-down) and the wire we broke and re-attached. http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...11-31-45AM.jpg
Well we got it started after that first day and it ended up being that the shifter cable broke and the transmission wasn't in park. After I manually put the transmission in park the truck started.
Well fast forward to today we took the dash apart because the truck wasnt working on heat. Turns out the blend door motor burnt up. But now it isnt starting again and this time it isnt that the transmission isnt in park. Any more ideas?

So we found the issue... We took the plastic covers off below the steering column and we saw a relay not connected... Last time we did this it was the same issue but I forgot. So this truck has a relay I assume bypassing the standard ignition system. Once we got the relay hooked up it started up great.
Glad you got it going AND you came back and posted up the fix.
When I was replacing the shifter tube bushings in mine Saturday, I unplugged those in this order, black, brown, then gray and instantly the trucks alarm came on. Just a note.
