I have a BIG load i have to haul saturday and the truck just pooped out i have a 1992 f350 with the 7.3 idi NON turbo, several months back i replaced the fuel pump, everything was fine until tonight, on my way back home from dropping off the trailer so it can be loaded the truck started jumping and learching then if you would hit the clutch it would stop lurching idel for about 30 secoonds then just die, and this was at 55 mph, then it was HELL getting her started again, after it started again i figured out that if i went 45 id be alright then about 10 miles later it did the same thing all over again then i could only go about 30, then it did it again lets just say i was going 10mph for over 15 miles to get it home, and another thing ive replaced all the brakes, drumes, master cyc brake booster, rear wheel cyc. calipers, you name it ive replaced it but if your in 4th or 5th gear the brake pedal will sink to the floor locking up the brakes and the only thing that keeps them from doing that is my foot, im sorry its soo F**KING long but can yall help me PLEASE
could be as simple as the lift pump not suppling enoughfuel to keep her going and having to crank to build up supply to start again. i would start there and see.
Sounds like air intrusion,,check all your fuel lines for cracks or loose connections, also pull your fuel filter off and see if its full,if not its air or bad lift pump.If the brakes are acting up when its doing this its because your vacum pump isnt turning fast enough to provide enough vacum
it does sound like a bad lift pump even though you just replaced it.
hopefully its under warranty still?
fuel filter is clean?
tank had over 1/4 fuel in it?
thanks oreo, the tank has 1/2 the fuel filter was wasnt full it was only about 3?4 full, i just noticed the first 2 injectors on the drivers side is leaking and now i have a diesel leak, and the brakes have been doing this since i got the truck and ive replaced everything except the valve on the frame and the vaccume pump
Split rubber line, cracked or rusted steel line, o-ring leaking at the sending unit, I even recall a statement on here a while back a fellow had a suction line on a sending unit that was cracked. Anything that will allow an air intrusion. Sometimes that air haunts you afterwards too... I accidentally ran low on one tank a week or so ago, switched tanks, and a mile later arrived at my destination. Shut the truck off for the day, and had a bugger of a time starting it, as the air had gathered into one area of the system, and it had to reprime part of the system first.
im going to trace all the lines to the lift pump today cause i got the pull delayed till onay and ive bought another life pump hopfully this fixes it i started it up today and it started right up then it ran for acouple minutes puffing white smoke the whole time then it died and it was hell to fire back up then it died again and now it wont start at all
paid 50 bucks for the new lift pump and it didnt fix it WTF im ready to burn it guys, how would i hook u my duel tanks with a electric fuel pump cause i have one that i had on another diesel it still works i just dont know how to hook it up PLUS would i just leave the mechanical there and hook the lines up with the electric or what
