98 Expy EB - Elec. 4WD PROBLEMS
I own a '98 Expedition EB with 65k miles. The electronic 4WD is COMPLETELY out of whack. The only thing I can rely on is the 'A4WD' setting. If I try to switch to high-range at speeds under 40, it may engage and it may not. I've even tried high-range at standstill in neutral. If it does in fact engage, it won't disengage unless I park the truck and completely shut off the engine, which of course resets the computer. Low-range is somewhat the same. I know that in order to engage & disengage LR, it is required that the truck be in neutral and at a standstill, but that same problems still occur. RARELY do I take it off-roading, and when I do it's not serious. If anyone has come across the same problems, or if any advice can be given, it would be much appreciated.

There were problems in the past with electronic 4x4 controls. Check the past postings. There were several with the same situation. I have not had a problem with my 99'. So far, that is.
