Brake controllers....

Hey guys, I'm looking to get a brake controller for my truck and was wondering what you all recommend. I think I remember the prodigy being the one of choice but I have found 3 that go by that name, the Prodigy, the P2 and the P3. I assume that the P3 is the best of the 3 but what are the real differences.

Thanks in advance!

i have the P3...what makes it nice is you can see what your alternator is charging at, and see how many amps/volts your trailer is pulling. helps diagnos trailer brake problems

not much different between the other two as far as i know

Any of the high end models with built-in diagnostics are worth the extra bucks, if something goes wrong. Hayes G3, Prodigy, etc. The value of seeing voltage and amps comes in real handy when something doesn't work.

I just bought one and would have picked up the prodigy, but the P3 was about 4 dollars more on Ebay with the wiring harness included so I got it instead.

I have had many controllers over the years and the P3 works better than anything I have ever used. Smooth breaking and unbelievable fine tuning. The diagnostics and display readings are a big plus too.

I've had a Prodigy for quite a while with no problems, also easy to adjust.

I had a cheaper controller in my old truck and now a prodigy in the X. I love the prodigy! Will never go to anything else.
