Please help me understand this:
These are the tunes that ID sent me with the X3 SCT tuner
Street- 400rwhp/670rwtq- Tow up to 10k lbs.
Tow- 310rwhp/560rwtq- Towing over 10k lbs up to the maximum of the
truck.
Economy- Mileage program only.
I would think that the tow tune would have more rwhp and more rwtq. What am I missing here.
BTW, what are the figures for rwhp and rwtq with the truck stock ?
Stock HP/TQ numbers are rated at the flywheel where as the ID numbers are rear wheel HP numbers and for whatever reason, that's just the way it works with the HP tq numbers. A tow tune is also a lot lower speed/rpm tune than the street tune and has less fuel. It all has to do with EGT control basically
Got a story to tell
Loaded the custom street tune.
Coming up an 8% grade on the freeway I wasn't paying attention and came up real close to a semi doing about 30. Pressed the go pedal just enough for the truck to downshift. The result scared the **** out of me. Went from about 30 mph to 60 mph in about 5 sec. Jerked my sorry-assed head back into the head rest. Didn't mind a whole lot because I had a huge grin from ear to ear.
