Exclamation Please advise friend's excursion (urgent)

Guys, know this is in wrong forum, but figured that i'd get more exposure here.....I have a friend who has a 2000 excursion 4x4...son drove it out of state last weekend (couple hundred miles) . anyhow he put it in 4x4 and couldnt get both axles to disengage. So vehicle was driven back with one hub locked in!! she has vehicle back now...unfortunatly it's now making a noise from front end. am going over in the morning to check it out for her. she is concerned that it's unsafe to drive to repair shop. what do i need to check? i'm familiar with the trucks and hub setup, I have a 2000 sd v-10 4x4, and my dad has a 2000 sd v-8 4x4. just hope she doesnt have a screwed up axle. thanks for helping out

Well, as long as the transfer case isn't engaged, you should be able to make it. If you absolutely have to, you can take the big snap ring out of the hub and gut it. IIRC that'll let you roll without any worry of it engaging. Most likely the kid drove it on pavement with them locked and blew up a hub. Also, you can try to disconnect the vacuum lines- sometimes mine won't disengage even if I back up, and have to disconnect the line at the pump to let te hubs spring back out.
