I recently switched tires from the contitracs to bf goodrich at ko. Both tires were 275/70/18. My mpg is going down hill quickly. I don't expect great mileage from the truck, but it is getting ridiculous. Is thier anything I can do to improve a little. I at least would like to get back to 12 mpg.my truck is 06 f250 with the 5.4 cc sb 4x4.
Don't think tire thread can cost big difference in mpg.
What I would suspect that even with the same nominal size, the new tires have bigger rolling diameter.
Compare rpm of old brand with the new one, or test you speed with GPS.
Quite possible you are making much longer distance than your odometer is recording.
Worn tires get the best mileage you will ever see. As soon as you replace tires the mileage will go down some. The AT KO isn't very aggressive tread but it won't be as good as a highway tread. A full 1 mpg difference is within reason given the change you made.
You're getting 12 MPG?? I envy you. I have owned my '03, 5.4 since new. I have never seen better than 8 city and 10 highway. I did upgrade the tires to 285/95/R16's but didn't notice a drop.
I have 245 75 17 and looking at 365 70 17 about 1" taller.
Um hate to break it to you, but a 365/70R17 would be 37 inches tall, no where NEAR the 31.5 inches tall you currently have. This has to be a typo, I couldn't even find a tire in this size. You mean 265 right?
