I own a 74F100 and have put autometer gauges in to replace my stock gauge. I just received my indicator lights in the mail and have no idea how to wire them in. I know I should have thought of this before I bought them. I like the look of them and didn't think about much else at the time. I intend to use the original harness like I did for the gauges, however these are LED lights and have no idea how to wire them properly. I believe they need a resistor, and I am not sure if these have one built in. The guage wire for the indicator lights is aprox 28??? Has anyone ever used this type of light before and if they have can you give any pointers? This is the only thing holding up the completion of this project.
I have never used that type pf light. That being said, I see in the picture is says "12v". That tells me that it must have the resistor already in place for 12v. LED's only need 1.2v.
I am guessing also the red wire is +. If it won't light, reverse the wires. You can test it by sticking the wire leads directly onto the battery terminals before you install them.
They should hook right in, but if you are going to use LED tailights, you will probably need load resistors at the rear lights, but that's a another different problem just with the tailights. If you use regular taillights, you won't have a problem.
ok...so I got the lights installed and the high beam light works. The emergency flashers work (with the turn signal lights), but the turn signals don't work. Any sugestions? I ran the lights directly to the old harness. I need to hit the wiring diagram.
Found my problem. I have a blown fuse. I just hope it is not a sign of a bigger problem. Not sure when it blew. The turn signals worked before my project...hopefully happened before everything was hooked up and in place.
