having another problem
I fixed the battery drain and replaced my starter with advice from you guys before. Now Im having an intermittent problem with starting...Ive checked the grounding on the starter solenoid and im wondering if the carb is starting to leak around the needle seals. If anyone knows any common problems with my model please help me. I have a 1980 F150 with a .302 2 bbl.

yes the engine turns over....sometimes it starts..sometimes it doesn't. I don't smell any fuel...I may rebuild the carb just for the peace of mind. New starter, new starter solenoid, wondering if the pickup coil is going bad or is it easier to change the whole distributor? Just need some pointers on what else is left. The truck has a maintenance list and thats one of the few things that hasnt been replaced.

you can spray some carb cleaner or starting fluid in the carb and see if it will run for a second or 2, if so its not a spark issue. You need to figure out why its not getting fuel. to start with do you know if the choke is closing? look down in the carb while pushing down on the gas pedal and watch for a stream (or 2) of gas squirting into the intake.
