transmission problems very odd
I have an 89 f150 super cab 4x4 with the 300 i6, 5 spd, I was on the highway in 5th gear, attempted to accelerate and it seemed like i was in neutral. so I pulled it out of gear and put it back in, same problem, tried all other gears and nothing happened. so I pulled over and checked to see if i got bumped into four wheel. I put the transfer case into 4 lo or maybe 4 high and placed it back into 2 high. All gears then worked. I pulled onto the highway and it seems i am in four low. I was doing 35 miles an hour in 5th gear at 3000 rpm. So i pulled over and had a co worker pull it ahead while i was looking under it and only the rear drive shaft is spinning. I am puzzled and this is my only vehicle. any help will be highly appreciated. Thank you
