On my truck, I am experiencing some noise from the drivers front hub, but only when I have the hub locked in place.
Ill admit I have never taken it apart to lube or clean it (in anticipation I was going to get some warns) and I basically am wondering if you guys n gals are thuinking that my hub is shot, like I am thinking
There is only noise when the hub is engaged in the lock position, and doesnt matter if its in 2 or 4 wheel drive. When the hubs arent locked, there is no noise whatsoever.
The 4x4 works fine, with the exception of the vacuum auto part of the hubs.
I would like to see if I could keep the stock ones for a wee bit longer before I get warns, basically because warn hubs are super expensive up here.
Long time no see brother!!! I would at a minimum pull them apart and grease them up. You dont want to do more damage if there is any being done. Plus it will give you the oppurtunity to make sure that all is ok in the front end. If it is a help order your Warns from a state side dealer and have them shipped to me. I will put them in a flat rate box from the USPS and tell customs that it is a gift for my cousin.
Thanks Jim, I just may take ya up on that yet, as that would really save me a ton of cash, probably about half price as what I could get em for up here!
I was gonna yank em all apart tonight and see what was going on in them, but the weather was pretty crappy out here today.
The **** is getting pretty tough to turn as well, so Im pretty confident its just plain on its way out.
