Question Crate Motors

What do you guys think about the (460) crate motors that you can get through Ford Motorsports. I was going to build a 460 but after figuring up the costs for the kind of horsepower I want, the crate motors are just a few dollars more. The main one I'm looking at is pn:M-6007-B460, 535HP Cobra Jet. That engine can be bought for $5400 and all you have to do is stick a carb. on it. What do you guys think?

Well if you have the money to put in to it from the start then by all means do so. You know that the engine is going to be new and it will carry a warrenty.

Unless things have changed, there are no warranties on FRRP performance engines. Without starting a flame war, I've read posts from several people who have experienced problems with 460 crate engines (poor attention to detail during assembly) while others were very satisfied with them.

The guy at the dealership says there is no warranty unless there is a defective part on the racing engines.
