Say it ain't so Joe. I just got a Livewire tuner, and I can't read Engine Oil Temp. Please tell me I'm missing something here. I upgraded from a MSD Dashhawk (which could read engine oil temp and does out of the OBD II port). I thought the livewire would as well since it's plugging into the same outlet.

Do I need a software update or something??

OK...well maybe someone on the board has done this. I don't see why it can't be read through the OBD port. That's not much of an answer. Hmm...wonder if you pick gasoline instead of diesel on the monitor setup if it's in there, and they just forgot it on the diesel...just a thought.

If I can't find an answer here I'll give SCT a call next week and post the answer for you here.

I know youve got to download the "live link" software but after doing this the tab Im sure I need on the drop down menu isnt in bold writing thus not an option. I have another email into them aswell and will post it here too.

 

So where does one get this live link software.

The way it sounded to me and after watching this video, linked for reference.

Is you need to have the driver to run the livewire unit. And then you'll be able to go into the livewire and make a config file picking from the PIDs, or what you want to monitor. I guess EOT is not one of the 20 default ones they load on there with the default settings for the diesels.

Live link is on the tch page bottom download. I didnt see any drivers?

 

I believe when they refer to drivers, they mean the necessary software for the live wire unit to communicate with your computer/laptop. When I watched the video I believe everything is done with the live wire plugged into the vehicle, and your computer with live link on it, plugged into the livewire unit itself. I'll watch it again to make sure, but that's the way it appears to me.

Hope this helps, don't know why they can't just email out a different config file with EOT on it, upload that to the live wire, then go out to your truck and bingo. I thought maybe they would know on 6.0s at least that people watch this closely.

One more question...Is there a way to setup the livewire so that it shuts off when the vehicle is shut off?? Mine stays on, no off button, so I have to unplug it everytime??

Still looking for help on all the above. I actually got my laptop to link up with the SCT and the truck so I just need a little guidance on how to put in custom datalogging parameters. I haven't got anything to save to the SCT livewire as of yet.

I have been on with SCT tech support for about 2-3 hours total with my computer hooked up and the bottomline is the livewire cannot yet monitor most of the PIDS that you will want. SCT TECH's will finally tell you to wait on the next upgrade. I sent them a pretty mean email since they sell the livewire to give you live monitoring, which is simply not true and possible at this time. Livewire is a POS when it comes to monitoring PIDS that you need. Love the programming from SCT, but I am thinking I will invest in a real set of guages for the p-post. Hopefully they can fix it so that you can pick the PIDS you need, but I'm not counting on it. I could write several pages on what all they had me do to try to get the pids I wanted, but just not into typing right now. Good luck.

 

I asked the same question about if I could program it so that it comes on when I turn key on or start truck and the answer is no. Hold the esc key down to power off and or power on. You can program to turn off the flashing light when the power is on. Since I do progamming for a living, I am thinking I should get into the tuner business, since the most basic functions are not available for the livewire tuner. Very entry level! Reading the screen when hot is another big issue. Overall, I am not impressed, I love the tunes, but the guage function and utility is pretty disapointing.

 

I got the eot pid to load on mine. 3 of them just dont know what one I want but I got 3 of thembut it wouldnt load tft with them. mines about to get returned.

 

tft was a preset pid on my sf3

 

It is aswell on the livewire but when you pick your pids and create the file then download it to the lwire your options are to use the defalut file or the one you loaded and i cannot get all three eot ect and tft to freaking load in the same file nor can anyone tell me what the heck is a (eot_v) or a (ect_v) pid.

 

thoses are voltage pids. you whould have to know the voltage to temp conversion. Not worth it for you. If I could find the stupid page on there website I would be of more help.
there should be just ect and eot.
