1994 f150 steering problem

First this truck has new shocks,new tie rod and ends, ball joints, steering box,Pittman, and alignment and all other bushings look to be fine. There is about 1.5" of play left to right and right to left, also the front wheels don't return on their own. The alignment shop said it is caused by the ball joints not being broken in yet? Is this true or do you believe it's something else? I am out of ideas as the steering is tight except for at the steering wheel. Thanks

The ball joints haven't been broken in yet??? Thats a good one.
Sounds like the gear box needs adjusting.

I just put a new drag link, ball joints and pitman arm into my 1992 and there was no break in time. It worked as soon as I pulled it out of the garage. I would also suspect the gear box.
