I installed a GM 1 wire alternator. The 63 came with a generator that aint much good.
The 1 wire is a simple bolt in. You just shim the shiv into alignment with the crank shiv and buy the right size belt. A 1 wire alternator without a core is about $90 rebuilt. This will give you a 75 amp charging system vs the stock 35 amp generator and for a little fabbing makes the $140 cost of a rebuilt generator seem stupid.
The waterpump is still available from napa and most other places.
So how do you tell if it's a generator or alternator? I thought they are one in the same. What do you suggest? And where do I get one of those alternaters/generators?
