Looking at gauge overlays for the gauge cluster there seems to be a shortage of options for us oil-burners. Options are pretty plentiful for the gas guys, but they use a different tach than we do, the 6k instead of the 4.5k. Is there a way to reprogram the stock tach to work with the different overlays, or to swap in a tach from a gas burner? Other than not having the cool 'turbo diesel' under the tach would there be a downside to swapping tachs out?
I'm not certain I'd do it, but it was something I searched for and couldn't find. I've only found one place thats currently making overlays for the OBS 7.3's, and while the price isn't bad, they're vinyl instead of the printed plastic, and i'm not sure how they'd hold up. I don't have access to ebay due to my firewall, so i'm not sure what options are available there.
If no one else has tried it i'll put it on my to-do list for when I get home. a junk yard always has one laying around for a steal...
