I have a 2005 f350 i have been driving it with a key that was marked service key ? i had trouble on the road with possible high pressure oil pump i took the truck to a service center and they told me i need a chiped key to get it to start this is the only key i got with the truck i went and had some more keys made at wal mart and they all worked before i had problems advise please thanks
As far as I know, the Passive Anti-Theft System, also known as PATS, or the chipped keys, was not an option on any F series truck prior to 2008. So whoever told you that you need chipped keys is full of it.
Thank you it seams funny i drove this truck for 6 months just using the service key and had keys made and they all started the truck just fine for that time
