$1000 Question

Here it is, you just bought an '02 f250 crew cab 4x4 all stock down to the 16" polished wheels and 265 tires, 59k miles. Mint truck, leather, all power, red, runs great. You have $1000 burning a hole in your pocket, how would you invest your money???? Note, I do have a 6637 from riffraff on the way as we speak, thanks Clay............

i have basically the same truck, i started w/ intake, exhaust, and gauges. thats the foundation for all the other mods that you'll do in the future.

all it takes is time and money.

I would throw in there the HPx, FRx, and a shift kit/valve body.

Wow, 59k! That's some low miles. Sounds real nice. I think I would:

Guages and exhaust

Replace fluids front to rear..upgrade to ELC coolant and put a good synthetic ATF in your power steering after flushing

Inspect your driveline for any wear and replace as needed. Same with frontend. Your miles are low but you never know, you may have worn ball joints etc. New ball joints are REAL NICE!

I'm a big fan of the in-tank modifications cause it seems to really quiet the motor down getting rid of the air in the fuel. I don't think injectors like air too much either. You can do this yourself for pretty cheap and there are kits out there for a reasonable price. Here's some good reading on that and many other things. Welcome to guzzle's In-tank Hutch Mod Web Page

Or you could go buy some phat Mud Terrain's for that bad boy and blow it all in one stop! Just ignore the vibration, noise, fast tread wear, and decreased mpg's. Sweet!

Oh yea, I would grease your non-serviceable hub bearings. Cheap and easy. Use an Extreme Pressure grease charged with Moly-Disulfide(MOS2). I don't have a link for the how to for you, but someone will put it out there if you want it. You just put it in through the abs hole if so equipped. If I'm incorrect about that grease, someone please correct me.

Fatherly advise, take that $1000 and take a Vacation or put it away !.. That truck is pretty much indestructible as it sits.. My dad has had his for almost 8 years. Hasn't put a dime into his except some super cheap mods that i have done to it.. The Vacation Time will last a lifetime. Some one could total your truck in an instant cutting through the parking lot of some store, don't pee you money away like the rest of us.

I agree! Maintenance is always my number one thing to do to any new vehicle. Like Izzy mentioned, change all the fluids, check all the brakes, U-joints, pinion seal, ball joints and tie rod ends, fill the fuel tank, change all the filters, and put the rest away for future unexpected problems.

Yes, intake, gauges, exhaust, and turner was the direction I thought I needed to go even though I do greatly respect the "put the money in the bank advice". Our vacation is behind us and I do have a nest egg in the bank just in case something pops up out of the blue. I'll always have a plan B in the works! I'm in the process of doing the preventitive maint. right now. Got the cooling system flushed headed to the tranny next. I failed to tell you all it is an automatic. Guess hub bearings should be next after the tranny? I am very intrested in this "in tank MOD", sounds like that could be a preventitive maint item as well? You all will have to bare with me, it's my first diesel. I'm really big in keeping my trucks serviced and in good working order, try to be pro vs. reactive to problems! Any other upgrades out there that just perform better than factory? Is that valve body from Johnny Wood for performance or is it easy/better on the truck? I'm looking for all types of upgrades that will help me keep this truck on the road for many years to come! As always, I really appreciate all in-put!!!!!!

X2 most of the above. With a low mileage truck, especially, I would install a transmission fluid filter, coolant bypass filter, lube oil bypass filter, and a power steering inline magnefine atf filter.
Also check out Springer Pops signature, and click on his mods for some great reads and info, he's one of the respected gurus here.
Congrats on the lucky find.

Thanks Wayne, great addition to all that's already be said!!!! One silly question- On the transmission fluid filter, is this an add'l filter add-on or does my truck not have one at all? I assumed it had one in the tranny? This is my first diesel so bare with me!!!!! Again, is sure appreciat it!!!!!!
