Question Wheel Fit

Wondering....

would one need spacers for 18x9 wheels with an offset of +10 on a stock suspension 2000, 4x4, V10?

Let's see if I got this right. This always confuses my brain for some reason.

The stock 16" is a 16x7 with a 4" backspacing which equals 0 offset.

Your new wheel with its +10 offset gives it a 5.5" backspacing (approx) which means it will sit 1.5 inches further inside the wheel well but then you gotta figure it is 2" wider than the stock wheel.

Since it is 9" and the flange (where the wheel meets the hub) is set in 5.5" from the outer edge. This means you'd have 3.5" from the flange to the inside edge of the wheel. Stock has 3" from the flange to the inside edge of the wheel. It is set in .5" more....If so, then no need for a spacer...probably.

Take nothing as gospel. Verify this "answer".

Thanks for completely confusing me and making me think that you answered my question, both at the same time. HAHA!

Now I need to find tires for these 18 inch wheels..... the ones currently on them have maybe ummm.... well, lets just say they are holding air.

So I thought more about it and made some changes to my original post. I'm 99.93% that you will not need a spacer. I'm 96.862% that you may experience rubbing at full-lock in an off-camber situation.

If you are trying to put newer 18 inch wheels on an excursion you need 2 inch hub centric spacers. Been there done that.

Be ready for a big loss in mileage, as the wieght increase on the wheel n tire combo is big. Takes more power to get them movin.. Just something to consider

yeah, i am expecting the loss of mileage. strangely though, the wheels came with tires on them and they dont really feel all that heavy.

guess its time to have 5star tuning hook me up with a new tune, eh? wheeee!

I don't think he is or he would have mentioned that they were the OEM wheels. Plus, the 05+ wheels are not +10.
