ok guys,, dont think i have a real problem, just finished my coolant filter install, and was letting it idle in the driveway,, noticed the engine temp guage wasnt work,, the trans gauge went to its normal.
Did i knock it loose maybe in my install?? Where is it located? On the main line i hooked to was a small gray wire going to what looked like a sensor, (maybe even a vaccum line),, and that came loose but i put it back.
Also after my egr cooler repair about two months ago we added new coolant etc, but did not flush the system. I couldnt believe how nasty the fluid was today when i made my cut in the line. Guess i'll be doing a coolant flush tomorrow. thanks.
The ECT sensor is in the front cover, right next to the thermostat and upper radiator hose connection. You were not working in that area when installing your coolant filter.
The hose you knocked loose was probably your heater control valve vacuum hose. No harm done if you just pushed it back on the little black cylinder.
Your transmission gauge will register much sooner than movement on your coolant temp gauge. Maybe you just didn't get it warm enough???
