Keeping in mind that John Wayne was a great western movie actor, I doubt that Jeff Bridges will cause many John Wayne purists to forget all about the duke. Bridges is a fine actor (did you see him in Crazy Heart?), but I don't think he's out to take anything away from the history of John Wayne's character, Rooster Cogburn. I see it as a way of honoring the man. As a matter of fact, I'll bet that after watching this new version, there'll be a glut of sales of the original version, and even a whole new generation of John Wayne fans.

I'm a huge fan of John Wayne, anything he's in, I'm watching. I hope that Jeff Bridges does a good, clean job. I'm also a fan of him. But...it's going to be hard to pull off. To me, the roles The Duke played in just don't get any better. I'm not sure anyone could pull off a John Wayne role, and not sure if anyone could pull off a Clint Eastwood role. And for the generation gap, I'm only 25.
