VW Rabbit Project
Well, I finally got her road worthy again!! Woo Hoo!!! Feels kinda nice to be back behind the wheel!
New water pump, new belts and hoses, new master cylinder, new radiator, new alternator, new glow plugs, new fuel return lines, new block heater, new brakes and calipers, new tires and I had the wheels powder coated flat black!!
Now I need a new clutch, new timing belt and someone to fix the leaky fuel injector line. It's not loose,,, I'm guessing that there's an o-ring at the end that has cracked as fuel bubbles out. I have the part, but was warned about a spring loaded something or other so am very reluctant to pull it!!! Springs and I just don't get along very wel!!
So, my problem is,,, no one in my area works on these little guys anymore!!!
Anyone out there near Portland or Seattle work on VW's???

I had enough trouble trying to find anyone that could work on my VW Dasher Diesel back when it was still fairly new. I can only imagine what it's like today.
I wish I had kept that car. It wasn't fast, but the fuel mileage it gave was rather impressive. And, after getting good tires, that car would go anywhere in snow/ice, once I got it started.........

I bought her brand new back in '84 with 13 miles on her and she's been parked for the last 15 years. Been working on her pretty hard getting the cobwebs worked out. The injector leaked when I parked her, but I couldn't find anyone in Alaska to fix it. I was getting 55mpg when she went into storage.
I have had MANY offers from people wanting to buy her,,, but just never gave her up!! She's paid for,,, so I saw NO benefit from it!! I knew I'd drive her again some day!!
She has much to do with my sign in name, Jim!! LoL!!
My Chinese Zodiac sign is a Rabbit also!!

Hi Lizz. Ya they getting big. Big enough to talk back and find out they aint tough enough to follow through yet. 8 and 10 now. The 8 year old goes through tennies every two week dragging his feet on the dirt bike. They go back to the Ex and school in a few days and back to only seeing them every two weeks. I am heading to Anchorage again next week for another follow up on the last back surgery. I am getting to know and like that town pretty well now.
Hope all is well with you and ya get yer rabbit rabbiting again. Wish the air cooled bugs where not so hard to come by now. Was a time when i had a half dozen or more in the yard. Would like to get one for the boys. Would be a good car for them. And safer than the 4 wheelers.

Check out VWvortex.com if you haven't already. Great forums for VWs with a wealth of knowledge. I'm sure someone on there will know of a good reliable shop in your area. I loved the forum back when I was racing my VW Scirocco.
