What is the best thing to do, or use, for an old vinyl interior that is getting a little hard, but is too good to replace yet? Especially in this weather, after you sit in it it stays down (butt mark) and won't go away. I hit it lightly with a heat gun as an experiment and it puffed up a little. Besides the foam being kinda wooped out the vinyl is good, except for a small split between one of the pleats that is probably because of this. and the cold sure isn't helping. Well, what should I do? Any good products to soften up the vinyl in the cold? should I take it to an upulstery shop? FYI it's a black bucket with a red insert (custom) Also, what is good for keeping vinyl tops like new? preventative maintanance! TIA
How old is this vinyl interior, and what vehicle has the vinyl top on it? In general, the best preservative/conditioner for vinyl & rubber is Silicone Spray Lubricant. The Ford owner's manual even recommends it.
It's hard to say how old the vinyl interior is. Probably about 6 years old. I know it was redone at one time because it's a custom job that was in it when I got it, and that was about 4 years ago now. It was fine when I got it. All the talk about vinyl made me think of the top of my car too, so I figured I'd throw that in. Thanks for taking the time to respond.
Oh, and what's the deal with silicone spray? I've never heard of that before. Is that for the interior, the top, or both? What do you do, just spray it on, wipe it off?
