System power Cutoff
My work vehicle is a 2007 E-150. When at idle, all functions of the dash (gauges, a/c fan, all lights and the radio) will suddenly cease function. there will be then be a couple of flashes of the alternator lamp. The engine runs as normal and then after turning off the fan and driving maybe a mile, all functions return to normal. This will also occur with only the headlights on. Any ideas? I mainly want to have an Idea of what is happening so I won't become stranded with this problem, as this can happen at a stop. I don't perform the maintenance on the vehicle, I just rely on it on a night shift.

Thank you for the responses, but a miracle has ocourred and the powers that be has removed my vehicle to the garages for repair. I was just hoping that there were similar cases of this happening before that could be looked after on the roadside when properly stranded. I'm not allowed to perform involved repairs on vehicles at work, as it is encroaching on anothers' craft and is frowned upon by the union.
