Sync 3.2 Upgrade

Does anyone know the deal with getting Sync Version 3.2? I tried to get it from www.syncmyride.com and does not seem to be possible. I read in one of the threads on teh forum that only the dealer can install it right now. I wonder what features it brings to the table...

Also I have heard that there are sometimes 2nd USB ports hidden in the dash with the sync system. There are people that have found them with the mustang and fusion. It would be way cool to have a 2nd USB key plugged in all the time somewhere else.

I've been struggling for two weeks with the digital stuff and finally got Ford to verify my truck has the Sync Services ( travel, fuel, etc. ) , but it requires the latest 3.2 update. Maybe other dealers know this....mine didn't. Further....they also didn't know you can get Sync Customer Service via the Ford CS phone number/menu?! Supposedly Sirius also provides some of this data.....haven't gotten there yet....ha. Hope this saves someone from losing their mind like I have.
I decided to re-phone Ford Sync Tech to check on the 3.2 info. This time they did verify that 3.2 would be necessary to provide some data....I believe of the travel nature....BUT, it hasn't been finished and sent to the dealers. He felt a notice would reach the Sync Website or at least your dealer when it is available. For those who have a dealer like mine that had no clue how to contact Sync Support by phone.....duh......call Ford Customer Service and select the option for Sync. They've been quite helpful.

Do you know what 3.2 adds? I wonder if there is a version history somewhere.

I just read this thread and I still can't tell if anyone has Sync 3.2 running on a 2011 Super Duty? I'd sure like to know before I ask my dealership to try an upgrade. Anybody know more?

I would like more info on 3.2 as well! As far as the 2nd usb, I've seen some threads I believe on this site. From my understanding, if you "unhook" you glove box so it will swing all the way down, then behind it is the interface and there is a second usb port where you can hook in a cable. I think its a mini usb port. There's a photo of it floating around somewhere. I was a little disappointed when there wasn't one in my center console.

I found my second usb in the glove box. It's actually a mini usb. I haven't bought the cable/adapter yet.

I also upgraded my sync to the 3.2. I see/hear no difference.

Call SYNC services and give them you VIN. They will tell you. Also it's an easy install. Download to a USB flash drive the upload to your truck..

Shane, I downloaded the only update that I see available on the synchmyride site but it is a version checker. I uploaded it to my truck and then reported the upload to synchmyride. It shows that I have v3.1. I do not see a v3.2 download available. I called the synch service assist and the agent said that 3.2 is not available for the superduty job 1. WTF?

Where did you find the DL? Did you have to involve your dealer in any way?

Are you able to get traffic info via synch or just via nav/sirius?

My verison is 3...something. I did upgrade it, just don't know what Version. I did call syn afterwards and they told me I have the current version. From what I remember you can read to them some code on the menu of the truck and they will tell you. I was just fooling around on SYNCMYRIDE.COm and installed the latest Version. And like I stated before Ford said it was the current Version.

On the traffic, I Believe you have to setup your syncmyride.com to specify "Work" and "Home" then it will give you the best route to take. I don't believe it will reroute you if , for example you want to go to Best BUY in ABilene, Texas. Gives you one route at that point. At least thats my understanding.

The best I can tell, after logging on and carefully searching syncmyride.com AND after talking to an assist agent via their 'chat' service, is that the Traffic, Directions and Information service is NOT available for early production 2011 superduty PSDs equiped with factory Nav and that the curent version available for that same model truck is 3.1.

There is nothing that I can find that would suggest that there is a v3.2 available... even from the dealer... and there is no reason to believe that even if there was a v3.2, that it would provide the Traffic, Directions and Information service that is presently not available.

That's disappointing!

If anyone knows otherwise, please speak up.

I have direction and everything. Including traffic, free for 3 years, if you add it ,your PRE-destination,,,like Work,or home,on syncmyride.com. But you have to add it ONLINE.

You can say "business services' and say "Home depot" Then it will find it for you and download it to your hard drive with directions on your stereo. I do not have the nav system.Just the radio/cd/sirius satellite.
