Has anyone removed their catalytic converters

Hey guys....I figured out mine is OBDI without CA emmissions. If I wanted to eliminate the cats, do I need a "Y" pipe or an "X" pipe? Where is the best place to buy such an animal? Summit?

Sure is. I just did mine not that long ago. I cut all 4 (yes 4) of my cats off sold them to the scrap yard for $140 then drove my truck to the exhaust shop and had my whole exhaust done for $140. But I did supply the muffler and tips.
If you just want some pipe welded where the cats where and the rest of your exhaust is fine then id say $50-$75.

Hey folks...
I have a 1996 F250 5.8L 4x4. My state does not require emmissions for a vehicle with this high of a GVWR. I'm thinking about removing the catalytic conveters. Has anyone ever done this and would I have any issues with the engine running "funny" after I do that?

I have a 90 F150 Reg cab short bed 302 5spd that has not had cats since I owned it. Runs great! My exhaust ends at the back of the cab after running thru dual glasspacks. We do not have any testing at all in Sweet Home Alabama (ROLL TIDE!!!) If w did, half the cars in the state would be off the road.

Defend what? Cost is $2500 if caught without cats.
