I'm going to be moving the beast. it's a 1981 bronco and the tires are 77.5" outside to outside A car dolly seems to be too narrow has anyone ever hauled a bronco on a car dolly? taken the tires off? rims?
also has anone made a towbar for a bronco\Fseries using the existing bumber mounts? (would that be strong enough?)
thanks.
Ryan
The bumper bolts CAN be strong enough, depending on exactly how you use them. I have my bumper mounted thru the factory holes and I've doubled my 9000lb winch and stalled it with no problem. You can see it in my sig link.
I haven't measured the width of my rig with the tires on. I have 33" x 12.5" tires on my rig. I had put my full size Bronco on a car dolly once with no clearance at all on it. It barely fit. Engine was being rebuilt and I was waiting for parts. I only had to move it out of my drive way and back in again only to put my '51 studebaker truck behind it. thanks for a long driveway to park three vehicles. So yes these rigs do fit onto car dollies without taking the tires off.
Penske Truck Rental has car trailers for rent U-Haul may as well. That way you don't really need to worry about width too much. If you overhang the sides of the trailer try to center it best you can.
