I thought I was happy with the paddle mirrors just towing the boat around, but after getting a 20' cargo trailer and going cross country I knew I needed the TT mirrors. I wanted Ford and not aftermarket so looked around for a few months before I found a set in my price range with signal, heat, extend. The wires on the driver side had been hacked off, so got a good deal.
Passenger side popped right in, no issues at all. For the Driver side I cross referenced a few posts here telling what color does what on the new and old - and then found a pic that someone posted showing the driver side connection. So I cut my wires off and spliced in the right wire in the right place. They are 04s so the running/clearance light (brown wire) was plugged to anything in my 02s harness - but will worry about that later.
Took the boat out yesterday and was amazed at the difference - and scared at how dependent I had become on the little, round, fisheye mirrors that I had stuck on the paddle mirrors.
It's pretty easy to see around and through the boat - but I was very impressed in how much more and how much safer I felt with these mirrors.
They are probably one of the best upgrades you can make, even if you don't tow!
Thanks to all that posted their pics and wiring help - made the job pretty quick.
I had the paddle mirrors too and thought they were alright...then I upgraded to the same mirrors you have and MAN what a difference! I could see everything behind me, around me, and in my blind spots! These mirrors should have been standard from Ford...
maybe in a few years more of the 08+ mirrors will hit the market and could upgrade again, I did look around for those and saw one set for $500. would have to figure out where to wire in the switch for the power extender too then.
