I am getting an alpine head unit. My subs will be two 10 inch jl audio w6's. My door speakers will be fosgates. Should my door speakers be two way or three way? I am going to have everything amped up. Will I need to add tweeters? How will I power them? a small two channel amp??? thanks
LOL seriously, feed em power! I would seriously consider getting a paif of 6.5" component speakers. Most brands/models will be able to handle 75-100 watts rms. Try to find an amp that will put out that much power to each speaker at 4 ohms stereo.
Deaden your doors. Click on the link in my sig that says Car Audio Links Page. On that page, look for a link that says sumtin like "Chooose your deadener." Look into getting one of those Dynamat alternatives to deaden your doors. Your midbass performance will improve while killing rattles in your metal door panels.
I have a four channel 500 watt fosgate amp to power my 4 door speakers. I was asking if I should get a small two channel amp (50x2) to power tweeters? that is if you guys recommend tweeters.
Well, now about this... I'm recommending you get component speakers, and not coaxials and additional tweeters. I'm sure it would even be cheeper to do it this way.
In all honesty, do you really listen to your rear speakers that loud? How about bridging your amp to 2 channels and finding some high-powerd component speakers. You could run your rear speakers off of your head unit.
That's what I once did. After a while, I continuously faded my rear speakers off until I no longer used them. Now I cannot stand rear speakers.
That sounds like a pretty good idea. My friend has components in his front that are amped and then his back speakers are powered by his head unit. I asked him if they sounded good and he said "I never sit in the back so I dont really care how loud it is back there" What would you think about getting components up front with tweeters and then getting components in the back with tweeters? Would that be overkill?? As for powering them, my fosgate amp is a 500 watt 4 channel amp. I can have like 40 watts by four or bridge it at 250x2.
Yeah always use your amp for your front speakers, the rears are not supposed to be louder than the fronts in a correctly designed system. rears are for fill only your actual sound stage should come from the front.
Subs in the rear are ok because low frequencies are non directional.
Just think of when you are at a concert, all of the sound is coming from directly in front of you, not behind you.
