It's been hot here in Texas. Today I jumped in my '01 Limited Excursion and turned on the A/C,... nothing. I got out, checked belt, okay, felt A/C lines, were very cold, turned on rear unit, it worked. Seemed like a front blower problem. Moved selector through Max/Regular A/C, all the way clockwise to defrost, no go. Had an important errand to do, so down the windows go and so do I. After driving for about ten to fifteen minutes, all of a sudden, the blower starts and I have A/C. Worked fine all afternoon and restarted fine after stopping engine, and restarting again after about 30 minutes. What could this be? Thanks for the help.
Sounds like a dead spot on the blower motor. If that is the case it may happen again. I doubt it is the switch. It may have cleaned itself just by running it.
The blower motor resistor is a common failure on the Super Duty/Ex. It's fairly inexpensive and easy to replace. If it doesn't fix it, at least you've ruled one part out.
I have the exact same problem! It's happening more and more so I think I'll just replace the blower motor.
Before you do it, you might want to try the $18 resistor. Ya never know. worst case, you're only out 18 bucks and 10 mins. Best case, it gets you blown again.

Oh well I will try that first. Didn't know you could just buy the resistor. I love this truck haha!
Just a quick thanks for all the help on this problem. Had to buy the resistor from the stealership, $26, no local parts stores carried it, but slipped it right in and problem gone. You guys are great!
