I have been looking for some new rotors for my 2006 F150 2WD CrewCab. The truck is nothing fancy but I have a lead foot and would like to slow down just the same. I ordered a set of powerslot rotors from an online dealer and that was two months ago. I spoke with powerslot and they say they don't have the mold to make the rotors yet. They have no set date for when they will have have the mold, either. Needless to say I have since canceled my order and need to find another set of rotors. Any help finding another quality brand would be appreciated!
I was looking for some new rotors too. I just dont care for the factory ones plus it looks like they need to be replaced soon. I saw a couple on here that are cryo and slotted. Plus they dont seem all that bad price wise. I have a 4x4 another thing I dont like about the front brakes is the dust.
then go with Akebono pads optimus. they are supposed to be dust free. That is what I am putting on mine hopefully this week sometime(I ordered them from rock auto, $71 after shipping). I am replacing the rotors too, I havent decided on the brand yet.
Cragar has a set of slotted and crossdrilled cryo. rotors for the 2wd. I have used a set of NAPA Ultra Performance rotors on my last change. They have Timken bearings and they are slotted and crossdrilled. I used Wagner ThermQuiet Ceramic pads which make very little dust. They are not cryo treted though. Cost is about $270/each.
Have you checked out the Centric replacement hubs? As I understand it, it's a replacement hub that allows bearing replacements. Additionally it uses the 4x4 rotors, in essence making it a 2 piece hub instead of a sealed single unit. The hub is around $90, plus rotor and new nut; though I don't know if it includes the bearings or not. If interested, take a look at 124.65902 (CEN) for a 05-08 6 lug unit and see if that interests anyone. I happen to have a 7 lug, so I'll be getting 124.65903 (CEN) for mine when it needs something. Looks like it will be alittle less expensive and definitely better if I ever have to replace the rotors a 2d time.
There is one of the sponsors that have the cryo rotors just don't know the price. However I have seen on some of the other sponsors sites they have the slotted rotors for around 90 bucks some are even cheaper.
One thing most guys never consider are the flexible OEM brake lines. Replace them with teflon lined SS braided lines. You'll get a firmer pedal for better feel and you won't lose pressure from line elasticity.
