starter line up
I am having trouble getting my starter in. I recently put a different 302 in the truck. it was a 302 before also. I cant get the starter lined up because there is a metal plate that is in between the motor and fly that does not line up with the holes on the bell housing where the starter goes. I got all the bolts in that hold the bell housing onto the motor just cant get the starter lined up.What do I need to do?

i had to change the plate on mine when I swapped a motor that was attached to an auto tranny into my pickup with a manual tranny. The bolts did line up, but the plate held the starter a few degrees closer to the motor, so the starter gear would just hit the face of the flywheel.
Do you know if the motor that you put in was mounted to the same tranny as you have now, or if it was mounted to a different tranny?
