Need Some help with mods.....

OK so we took a trip today to the river and the wife said i couldn't do anything to the truck again for a year. So this means that I can't do things that she will notice, such as the fender flares I want.

But this doesn't mean I won't do things that she won't notice. So I am open to suggests on some things that you guys have either done, thinking of doing, or seen that someone who doesn't like trucks wouldn't notice.

I have started changing things and now I can't stop I just keep loving everything I have done and want to change it to make it even more my style. I already have Cab Lights on order so she can't be mad about that because I ordered those last week.

I was thinking I wanted to change out my Pedal Pads to something more rugged. My boots are sometimes covered in mud from job sites and I don't like them slipping off the pedals. Does anyone know of any good pads? I am also going to use a bed liner and spray it in my rear wheel wells at the suggestion of someone which i thought would look pretty good. But that is about all I got so i figured I would ask you guys.

Thanks
Drew

it all depends on how much she pays attention lol. you could do speakers and maybe a stereo. maybe a programer and just dont mount it to the dash.

I did the exhaust already and surprising enough she didn't even notice and it has a nice quality sound to.

Under the hood yeah she would never look there but then again I may be able to get away with fenders and she wouldn't even notice. She hates my truck so she tries not to pay attention to it.

I thought about some new speakers and might do that.

Whats an e-fan?

Thanks for the suggestions keep them coming.

I would definitely save up for a programmer. I would look into the gryphon tuners since they have custom tunes to what you have installed to your truck already like the K&N and exhaust....if you do it right it looks like it comes stock with the truck, my wife didn't even notice the programmer until it was installed for about 9 months....

I guess I am lucky. My wife loves my truck almost as much as I do. Not that she is asking what am I going to do next but she is not telling me leave it alone. As long as my truck makes me happy she likes it. My other truck was great until I started to comment about this and that and it getting old...she said I need to get another truck just as nice as my old truck was or nicer.

As for sneaking stuff on your truck she won't notice. Under the hood she will not look but if you two share an account she will see that money one way or another. Either the direct payments to vendors or payments to that "sooper sekrit" credit card for toys. Again I am lucky that my wife likes my truck and likes that I take care of it and her car.

Have you modded your intake yet?
Have you put in weatherguard mats? Sounds like these would be great if you are on jobsites in boots and mud.
Signal lights replacement?
If you have a heat gun black out your headlights using the mod posted here. Save you 100-200 bucks buying Hella units.
LED replacement inside?
Have you modded or gotten the addin/replacement plates to beef your locks up?
Backup camera?
Class 3 hitch?
Trailer brake?
Upgrade trans cooler?
Upgade trans pan?
Remote oil filter mod?
Programmer and custom tunes?

Personally I am still looking at headers, e-fan, gatorback belt of course, maybe underdrive pulley set, stronger alternator if I go underdrive, maybe level it, bull bar, lights on the bull bar if not swap the bumper for fog lights, swap the rims out, remove the emblems except for the tailgate that I will light red and tie into my brakes, replace the front grill. If I fall into a supercharger for cheap...oh yeah that bad boy will go on for sure.

I am a geek at heart also so I am trying to theme my white truck towards a stormtrooper. Which my wife loves being that she is a bit of a Star Wars geek.

The wife and I have been married for 8+ years now and we don't hide things from each other except when it is something for the other one. I am not fortunate enough to have a woman who loves cars and trucks the way I do but hey that means in this house we drive what I like. Her next vehicle will be an Explorer so I am pretty happy about that.

But when it comes to the truck she would rather push it off a bridge then see me spend $5 on it. So I have allowed my company to spend most of the money on modding it and that pleases her because then it doesn't feel like she is spending the money even though it just means less that will be paid to me when the job is over.

So I started thinking about this today because I want to just get a bunch of stuff done and then that be it for a period so I had to clarify what it is she meant by not doing anything to the truck for a year. And what she meant was that as long as i don't spend more the $100 at a time I can do some of the smaller things I wanted to. So this gives me some room to play with.

OK I am not doing an Intake I don't think they really give you that much for the money. The truck already has a Class 3 hitch on it so I am good there. The back up camera would be wasted on my truck because I usually have a trailer so that would block a good portion of it.

I Have debated on the LED replacements and the cab lights I ordered will be LED lights so thats a start. My mats I have already are pretty beefy and catch 90% of everythign that comes off my boots but I have thought about a new set that would be just a bit bigger under the pedals. The Programmer I have looked into and I am going back and forth on that so i am not sure.

But thanks for all teh suggestions these were great I do appreciate it and if anyone can think of any others i am all ears.

I was just posting some suggestions.

That first post started out some different about hiding stuff ... and I tried to help you with the "getting her to like cars / trucks" thing.

Don't let her see that "not fortunate enough" part.

Yeah I understand that and I was just responding to what you said and i appreciate you saying it. Yes I originally was talking about hiding it from her but then I revisited it with her because of that part. I knew I wanted to continue to do things to my truck she knew that too. She just didn't want me to go over board with it right away. But as far as the not fortunate enough part she tells me that all the time and its not a concern because we have plenty of other things together. The cars are mine and that suits her just fine as long as she has one that she can drive and its not the truck and has access to get what she likes that I don't. I think you are just miss understanding what I was saying the second time around. By not fortunate enough I mean we don't share the enthusiasm for cars and trucks just like I don't share hers for purses. That doesn't mean we don't appreciate everything else we have together.

Anyway thanks for the input I always appreciate people reminding me of what have and to always be thankful for it.

If anyone has any other small mods they have done to their truck that they want to share let me hear it. Thanks again.

Sorry if I came off preachy.

I am way lucky with how my wife and I can deal with each other and there are days I take that for granted and some days I can't be more thankful.

As for other things you can do with your truck.

Have you thought about redoing your gearing?

If she is not wanting you to spend more than a $100 a pop...you can always "save up" for bigger mods.
