Ok so I found a bed for my truck that looks so good on the outside, but cleaned out the inside and in the front against the bed wall it is rusted out. I was thinking cut a section out of a junkyard truck and weld it in. If anyones done this or knows the correct way to do this please chime in, also its going to get a spray in beliner after the rest of the truck is done so it will cover where it is cut and welded
I`m no body person but you should take a ton of mesurement before you cut out the panel in your trucks bed so you have something to work from when you weld the new one in. Not sure if they would or not but you might want to put the tailgate up to keep the panels from leaning as a safety pecaution. Also I have heard that the insides of a 73-79 FORD bed are exactly the same as 80-96 FORDs. So any back panel, floor or inside bed walls should be the same for 73-96 and fit. Good luck and hope this helps
I'm looking to do the same thing for a 1979 short bed. Did you have any luck finding a replacement bed floor, or did you try using the floor from an 80-96? Unfortunately I can't find a complete short bed floor replacement for a 1979 - just the long bed. I have found a complete short bed floor replacement for a 1980 - 1995, but not sure if the dimensions are the same. Anyone know for sure if the dimensions are the same between 1979 F-150 short bed center section (48") and 1980 and up short bed?
