Where were you?

I'm watching TV, seeing thousands of people marching against the thought of the United States taking out some very bad people.

My question to these marchers is, When Saddam was gassing his own people to death, where was your peace loving, righteous indignation? When he invaded Kuwait for their oil and killed men, women and children, where were your objections? When he defied the NATO mandate, where were your plans to march and be heard? It's been more than a decade, haven't you had time to voice your opinion and stand up and be counted before this? It's not too late, where is your plan to deal with the situation, and what is the deadline? Why didn't you say anything when he stole all the Mercedes Benz automobiles and wealth from Kuwait while his henchmen raped and murdered? How come you weren't upset about the oil when he lit all the wells on fire with total disregard to the worlds ecology, because he was angry he didn't get to keep his neighbors property and you said nothing?

I'm fed up with the weenies of this world. We even have one guy on this board that suggests that Bush is only doing it for the oil. No mention of the fact French are heavily invested in Iraqi oil and we are not.

I'm getting the idea that it's okay to let this monster get stronger, even if it takes tens of thousands of more lives to get him out later, the Yanks are going to do it anyway, not us.

Yeah, I got onto Yahoo and chatted for a few hours this morning about the war issue. I was bombarded with ignorance from all sides, and since everybody on there was Australian and European, the slurs were mostly personal rather than against my views. It didn't matter that I said that I wish there was a better solution and that I hope that any war will be short and succinct; I was labeled a war-monger and I was called all sorts of names. Not one of them could offer a better solution. It made me furious.
Saddam Hussein must go, but the problem is really much more complicated than that. I don't think Bush is really using his head and employing all of his options, but I have no control over that. I just support our troops and am proud of them and my country. I can only hope that a better Iraq and Arab region comes of all this.

Personaly I don't think war right now is necessary. North Korea admits to having a nuclear weapon AND has threatened to use it pre-emptively! Good Bye Seattle! That seems like a real danger, why does the administration keep putting it on the back burner?

I do however think any military action in Iraq would be be short. What concerns me is the occupation. Look at the USSR's involvement in Afganistan for instance. It was long and ugly and I think our being in Iraq wouldn't be much different. Saddam Hussein may be evil but he's the only thing keeping Iraq from civil war and perhaps a larger conflict.

less two cents.

I don't think anybody really want to go to war, except maybe Sadam. I would like to see a peaceful resolve, but don't see how it is possible. Why should we give him more time? The Resolution gave him 90 days originally I believe, and it's been 12 years. What do we do if we give him more time and eventually find the weapons, and that he has been building them up while we were looking? I think it is better to go in now than to spend more time and chance that he builds more weapons and causes more harm to his neighboring countries. I can see why France and Germany are against it, since they are with in range possibly. I believe there are other reasons they are against it too. As far as North Korea goes, I don't think they are as big of a threat. They openly admit to having the weapons, so I don't think they are as likely to use them as Sadam who denies having anything. That is another thing, why do so many people thing George Bush is making up stuff and believe Sadam, who we know has lied and done terrible things to his people? Don't get me wrong, I don't think you should blindly follow your leader, but give him a chance. The thought that it is about oil is just plain ignorance. I would think if Bush was wanting to help his oil buddies they'd rather not have Iraq's oil available so that they can get a better price for what they have. One more thing. The weapon inspectors keep reporting that they haven't found anything yet, but then they turned around and said they did find missles that were capable of traveling farther than the 150 km restriction set forth in the resolution. Isn't that evidence? Same with the chemical war heads, even if they were empty. Ok, I'll sit back and enjoy reading these posts some more now. Just had to put in my thoughts since I have held back so far.

Too late every one!!! We are going in. Don't worry about the peace activists, they are usually loud, irrational, and get too much TV news coverage. They will never stop the tide of war; They can't stop the tide because they are a small percentage of the population. In this country, majority rules. Screw the world!!! We should kill saddam for the past crimes he has committed, he is Adolph Hitler all over again. I hope those peace protestors start going over there right now, let them build a human shield around saddam's baby-milk factory. Maybe the first few sorties of F-117's will take em out and end all of their insane whining. Voodoo hex for Hanoi Jane, and Sean Penn too!!!

I don't have a problem with war protests. I mean, at least people are ACTING like they care about something! But, in a week, they will all be more concerned with the trade in value of their Saab's and Land Rovers, so apathy will prevail, as usual.
I don't want a war. But so far, nobody has been able to give me a better solution to these issues. I think we would have done well to just finish what we started in '51 and '91, and though it's not that cut and dry, things would be alot less tense right now.
There's no easy solution. I just hope Bush and Rumsfeld know what they are getting us into.

This is my favorite story about these nut *****.
My mom called me in to watch part of oprah, by the way i cant stand her or her guest. Oprah had this guest that was very anti-war, and was saying there are other options to war. Well towards the end of the show when the audence ask questions, one lady stands up and ask what are the oter options. Well the anti war lady goes well there are many miltary option other than war that the us can use. The lady that that asked the question goes, "such as what." Well the anti war person goes, and i quote, "the Us can use stragetic srtifes against the wepons of mass destruction." The lady that asked the question goes "THAT IS WAR." I frogot what happened next because i was on the floor laughing so hard.

Go figgure,
Chris

BDV: The next time you are called all of those names just smile and tell those European cowards that the day they refuse our foreign aid is the day they can critisize us for LEADING the world. It takes courage to lead and a backbone to act. We had to save their sorry asses twice last century because of their policies of appeasement. Go back there and give em hell.

Those peacenik ninnies ought to be protesting North Korea threatening the US. But, nooooo, they blame the US. They don't even blame their hero Clinton, who made it possible for them to develop the nukes. They embrace and call Clinton a hero.

They need to sit down, shut up, and get out of the way. It is time to do the job that should have been done already by Saddam himself. But since he refuses, we need to do it for him, the free world, and for the security of our nation. Bye Bye Saddam.....

Like I've said in other posts, not enough people are making the North Korea and Iraq connection.

North Korea has nukes and a missle capable of hitting the mainland. We cannot play hardball with them because they are a nuclear power, we have to solve the problems diplomatically. In other words they have a bargaining chip that keeps them a threat, a chip we cannot easily remove.

Now Iraq is said to be within "months" of having nuclear weapons if left unchecked. As soon as Iraq has one nuclear weapon they now have a bargaining chip. No more hardball can be played, we'd be in the same situation as we are with N. Korea.

You go to war and remove the psycho Iraqi leader, and terminate all nuclear weapons programs before one is made. You negotiate with the psycho N. Korea leader because it is the only option left. The peace freaks seem to be making a case to let Saddam develop the weapons, then we disarm. But N. Korea is making it painfully obvious that once a rougue nation has nuclear capability then they are much harder, if not impossible to disarm at that point.

Like I've also said, I'll personally blame every peace activist and Euro socialist if a WMD is ever used and it ultimately is found to have come from Iraq. But I bet they would be pointing the first fingers and screaming the loudest asking why nothing was done to stop the WMD.

Where were you?

I have always thought it was funny that those that often oppose war where given the said right to do so, by those that wage it. The reason we hawks put up with these people is becuse they pay taxes, IE support our economy. Well, the wellfare supported peace loving citizens should be gotten rid of. I don't think you can bread them out, and gassing has been tried. Maybe we should train and put them to work. If the refuse, trade them for somebody from the south of the border. They are dying to get here. I would willing pay, to trade my deadbeat sister for somebody who appreciates the freedoms this country provides.

Thanx
