Have a 1967 mustang in my storage building uncoverd it ( box's of junk on top of it)LOL. Blew the dust off of it with my leaf blower to be able to see it and figure out what to do with it. It has a 6 cly remanufacter motor you can see the red tag in picture. What size motor do you think this is? What other size motor would hook up to the 3 speed Manual ? This motor blow's out of the oil fill cover like a old smokeing tran. Per tag infor. been bored to 0.40. Thanks
Should be a 200ci. Will have five freeze plugs along the side. Replace the PCV valve, you might get lucky on that blowby. A 250ci will go in with a few mods.
The last time I owned a 6cly. was in a 1963 Dodge dart. It threw a rod. But motors did not seem to last with me back then as a teenager, if you know what I mean. Have this mustang for sale in craig list. Would keep it if I new this 200 would be rebuildable or fine a motor that I new it would easly bolt in for fun. When I got it had plan to upgrade everything for my wife. But shortly after I got it she changed her mine. She had found a 1985 tee top Gt mustang she wanted. So there it sets. I just pick up a Ford 1958 Panel truck $600. Has no motor or trany, do have a 302/aod but worry if motor to small. It must be 4000lbs+ sure looks heavy. Disapointed just found out to put another frame under it is not a good thing to do. Thanks for you all's information, helped a lot!
yeah on the 300 you can cut and weld ls1 heads if you wish... although im not sure if i would. there used to be somebody that drag raced a 300 in a maverick, but i cant remember who it was.
don't let it fool you, that 200 is a hardy engine.
4000+ pounds isn't bad, my 88 weighs over 5500 with just a little 302, and thats without all the junk I carry around.
A good look into what to do with the performance end of these motors, but don't discount some of the newer ideas, such as getting your hands on a forged crank, H-beam rods, and Full circle rings (no gap)
I'm calling BS on the LS1 head job though. Read all those articles and there wasn't one pic shown. Plus over time people started getting real with the guy (asking for photos, asking where to send up front money) he stopped posting and I never saw a prototype. Shame though. Most of us 300 guys would LOVE a cross flow head.
