I have a 96 F150 xl I recently bought, I pulled the sony radio i had bought for my last truck out of it with intention of putting it in this. I had no problem removing the stock radio and sorting the speaker wires out, but i cant seem to find a constant wire. When I first went to hook up the radio I blew the radio fuse, I have since replaced it and using a guide i found in another post on here tried to hook up the power wires still no success. Is there anything else i might have messed up in the power wires when i popped the fuse?
i had a similar problem with my old ranger when i had it and it was caused by a speaker that was grounding out except mine would wrok sometimes and somtimes not but yours sounds like its a power issue...
So after fallowing the wiring diagram above I quickly found out that my power wire didn't run to the fuse box in the truck, but under the hood(it was the 20amp fuse). Needless to say I'm grad it was a stupid mistake and not a expensive and/or time consuming fix.
