Starting problems again - I need help on this
Here is the issue:
I had a dead starter so I replaced the starter and solenoid.
Yesterday after driving the truck for 15 miles (combined street and highway) I parked the truck for about a half hour.
When I started the truck up again, the starter would not stop cranking. I rotated the key to the "OFF" position and the starter continued to crank. I pulled the "NEG" off the battery to stop the starter from cranking.
Has anyone had this issue? Any ideas on what it could be?
Thanks in advance for any help you can give.
Tore down the steering column and checked the entire wiring harness inside the steering column too.
Found an odd thing under the dash. It a black box with a label that says "Ford Security System" and a key fob attached to it. It is plugged into the the wiring harness under the dash. It looks as if it is a factory wiring harness.
Did Ford have key-less remotes in 1990? (Possible?)
Update on the key fob:
Pulled the key fob open and put in a battery (A23), hooked up the battery on the truck and I have key-less entry!

No they didn't, according to the 1990 owners manual...but it was offered as a dealer option, and it could have been added at a latter date after delivery to dealership
