Ball Joints

I have a 07 E150 van that I want to grease the ball joints on. They had a cap screw where the zerts should be so I removed them and installed zerts. I went to grease them and had a lot of trouble with the grease oozing out and not going into the joint. I did get two of them to take grease. Any ideas?

Try this

Did you try jacking under the I-beam near the wheel to raise the tire off the ground and relieve the pressure? Or the joint could be caked with the old grease. Never saw the screws you mention, but mine could have been different.

Also, it's "Zerk":

I'm betting on old grease is caked and dried, won't move around.

Yes I put a floor jack under the frame and raised the tire off the ground to take pressure off the ball joint but it didn’t seem to help. Could the end of my grease gun that fits onto the Zerk be worn? <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
