I need your best solution to the following problem. I recently noticed that I had some sort of residue on my hood. I'm not sure if it is bird @!#$ or a jealous neighbor egged my truck. I live in South Texas, so it didn't take long for that residue to "cook" on. What is the best remedy to remove this? A car wash with heavy scrubbing with a soft sponge didn't do the trick. I'm afraid it already hit the paint. If it did, does anyone know a quick fix? I appreciate your help, and please include home remedies. I also tried a 50/50 mixture of vinegar and water.
I live in south east Texas, and I have a white X. When I get something on the paint that won't come off with a wash job, I end up using car wax. I've gotten some small yellow spots on mine several times and the wax is the only thing that will remove it.
I live in N. Texas, where the sun does shine--not lately as all it has done is rain the last few days! I know what you mean by baked on spots (tree sap, bird poop, tar, etc).
I've used Meguiar's Cleaner/Wax to remove spots, Turtle Wax Bug & Tar Remover, Bleach on a rag--yes bleach, and WD-40. All have worked with varying amounts of elbow grease. None have harmed my finish. After removing the stain, I do wash the area and re-wax.
I agree with Karl , I have used a good cleaner wax , then a regular wax with good results..The product " GOO-B-GONE" works very well in getting unwanted junk off paint , just make sure you dont let it dry on the paint itself while using it..........
